We are delighted to congratulate Professor Stephen Broadberry on being awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Lund University School of Economics and Management (LUSEM), in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of economic history.
As part of the celebrations, Professor Broadberry delivered a seminar at LUSEM on 22 May titled Historical National Accounting and the Great Divergence and a public lecture on Accounting for the Great Divergence of Productivity and Living Standards. The talks explored how long-run economic data can shed light on major questions of global development, inequality, and the causes of the Great Divergence. The honorary doctorate was conferred at a ceremony in Lund Cathedral on 23rd May.
Stephen Broadberry is Professor of Economic History at Oxford and a Fellow of the British Academy. His work has reshaped our understanding of global economic patterns over the past millennium, particularly through his innovative research on historical national accounting and comparative development between Europe and Asia.
We are proud to see his contributions recognised internationally and extend our warmest congratulations on this well-deserved honour.
